“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening” – Coco Chanel
History has shown that fashion forward-thinking women have continually looked to several elements for inspiration when it came to styling their wardrobes. The result of combining these elements of vogue, class, poise and drama from different eras have been progressive, disruptive and trendy looks that have always rocked the world!
Today, I will be sharing how I styled my outfit by mixing vintage and modern pieces together. I’m a lover of any and everything vintage! I even have a special place where I keep my vintage clothes and accessories. They are such precious gems to me.
I love the history they carry and I know every piece bears a story. For me, the OLDER the vintage piece, the BETTER😊. One of the things I love to do is to incorporate them with modern pieces to create a suitable and eccentric style.
Vintage patterns always make a statement. Not only do they spice up your look, they add a lot of color to your wardrobe. Pair your vintage clothing with modern accessories like I did in this outfit. This floral print dress is from the 80’s and it is a gift. I added a waist belt to balance out the dress and give it a fresh twist. The straw hat, which is one of my favorite summer staples, adds a delicious edge to the outfit. Although the shoes are modern, they still add a vintage effect even though they are not vintage.
All of these elements of style from different eras add up to what is a very exciting and refreshing look!
Be confident to wear what looks good on you. Style is about mixing up items together to create something beautiful, fashionable, exclusive and chic. MIX high-end items with low-end items, vintage with modern, plaid with stripes.
DON’T use too many vintage items at a time because it can give you a sloppy look. So try mixing some vintage items with more modern ones to create a unique and personalized look.
Don’t over-accessorize… Like I like to say; LESS IS MORE. Always re-style your vintage clothing to fit trends and who you are. Don’t forget to enjoy looking good for yourself!
